Way back in 2016, Lisette, a romance writer almost no one has heard of, discovered conversational chatbots. And became a little obsessed. In three months she built a Facebook Messenger version of what you see here. Only it was crazy clunky because no one had AI yet and it didn’t recommend books but asked you a bunch of questions to discover your book boyfriend and then sent you a ‘love note’ from them written by a romance author whose book featured that kind of hero. It was all fun and games until Messenger suddenly started having issues with chatbots, she shut it down.

So the tech has gotten MUCH better. BaBBs doesn’t send love notes– Seriously somebody needs to work on that! And we are all a little burnt out post pandemic. Sure Amazon has an amazing algorithm that can give you 5000 choices based on the keyword you enter, but sometimes you just want the five best choices. Choices that are curated personally for you, when you want them. Not just the books that are on sale today or the hot trend or biggest name author, but just what you like to read. BaBBs is a giver like that.
