Who we are
Our website address is: http://buildabookboyfriend.com.
Cookies
Are delicious but we don’t use them here. We do use something like a cookie if you use the Build a Book Boyfriend chatbot. It collects your name and email address. At this time that information is used two ways. First we send you an email with the books from your search, because who can remember stuff like that. Second, the chatbot remembers if you have been here before. So if you want to run the same search again to get different books you can, or you can tell it to run a different search. It’s a bot, they live to serve.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
What that looks like here is that I’m embedding video players with the Book Date! podcast on them. They should look and act like the players you would see on Substack. If Substack tracks user info, you should assume they do through the players too. Honestly, I’m not sure they do. The links to Amazon books through the chatbot aren’t technically embedded but it is Amazon so assume someone is watching somewhere.
Who we share your data with
In the far distant future, I hope to make this website a place where indie romance authors can connect with romance readers, and vice versa. If that happens then we will ask you to subscribe and if you don’t, no sweat. If you do, and say you like Sci-fi Romance with OTT Protective Aliens and Secret Babies tropes, asking for a friend! And we are working with an author who has written that book, we might contact you. Maybe they are looking for reviewers and you get a free book in exchange for an honest review. Or maybe we think it will be something you want to buy. Whatever, again, not happening now but that is the direction I’d like to see this go as an author who writes in too many genres to market effectively since there is next to no cross over between them.
How long we retain your data
We will keep your name and email address on file until you unsubscribe. That said, there is no subscription at this time so the only email you will receive is if there is a search done.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. At this time we are not allowing comments and our forums are not publicly available. If we start collecting email addresses for marketing purposes, you will be notified and may unsubscribe then.
